Cast in the old way
Arroll has been casting iron for period homes for four generations. Every column is sand-cast, cooled slowly, then hand-finished before it meets paint. The method is slower. The result is a radiator that lasts fifty years.
Sand-cast, hand-finished, tested to EN442
A pattern is pressed into fine casting sand, iron is poured, the section cools slowly. When cool, each column is knocked out, ground back by hand and stamped with the pattern number. It's how radiators were made in 1905. It's how ours are made now.
Every finished body is tested to EN442 for radiant output, pressurised to 13 bar (we rate for 10) and quality-checked for finish before it leaves the foundry.
First foundry pour
Arroll begins casting iron for gas engines, boilers and radiators for the growing Victorian mains.
Edwardian pattern
The pattern that most of our modern range still ships from is cut. Straight columns, softly rolled top caps.
